Common Components E-learning Interactions

These SCORM packages offer a wide range of learning experiences, including games, simulations, and interactive examples to demonstrate the keep concepts of the module. Common elements of these interactions include opportunities to take a closer look at content with the magnifying glass icon, and an option to read the voiceover text with the CC option. Another common element is the appearance of a next button, which becomes available only after completing all necessary interactions on the page. These three common elements are all identified in the example below.

These interactions usually begin with an introduction slide, shown in Image A above, and end with a summary slide, shown in Image C below. Each summary slide includes a "Lesson Complete" button; clicking this button indicates that you have completed the interaction and marks the Tile as complete on the PL Framework. If you exit the interaction before progressing to the summary screen, the Tile will be marked as In Progress, and you'll be asked if you would like to continue where you left off when you click on the Tile again.

Note that due to the complexity of these interactions, some are not recommended for certain devices or internet browsers


Pre-Assessments & Literacy Checks

Some E-Learning interactions also contain quizzes. Some quizzes are meant to provide formative assessment feedback, while others are meant to be summative. Modules usually include a Pre-Assessment E-learning Interaction toward the beginning, which lets you "test out" of the Literacy level. You have only one attempt at the Pre-Assessment, but if you pass it, you automatically receive your Literacy Micro-Certification and can move on to Fluency.

The Literacy level also usually ends with a Literacy Check, which you have multiple attempts to pass to receive your Literacy Micro-Certification. Both the Pre-Assessment and Literacy Check provide personalized feedback based on your responses, as shown below in Image D.

Tile Information

Once one of these e-learning tile has been accessed, the time spent on it and the number of times it has been viewed by the user appears at the bottom left-hand corner of the tile. When applicable, the score also appears on Pre-Assessments and Literacy Checks.

Click on the info icon to open a popup with more detailed information, including the time spent on each view of the tile, and the score on each quiz attempt. For instance, the image below shows that this user spent a total of 6 minutes on the Rigor Literacy Check tile. Their most recent score is 9/10. They just viewed the quiz just for a few seconds on October 13, then they returned and completed it on October 18th, scoring 6/10. They decided to try again on the same day, and this time scored a 9/10, passing the Literacy Check.  Note, this information is available to the logged in user, and also to PL Managers via the Coaching View.
